Craig VanderWall joined the firm in 2022 as a Managing Director on our Institutional Sales and Client Service team, where his primary responsibility is to partner with GLA’s public fund clients nationwide. Craig is a second generation firefighter and father of a third generation firefighter. He served for 28 years in the Grand Rapids, Michigan Fire Department. He has also been a Trustee and Vice Chairman for 22 years on the Board of the Grand Rapids Police and Fire Retirement System. He was actively involved on the Firefighters Local 366 for 22 years as an executive board member as well as a bargaining team member working on collective bargaining contracts. From 1998-2009, Craig worked at Design Underwriting, servicing 457 retirement plans for firefighters. He holds an NCPERS (National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems) Accredited Fiduciary designation.

Craig is married with 3 children and is an avid golfer who loves being outdoors with his smoker and grill. He has a passion for mentoring high school students and has volunteered at his church for over 15 years with students. He is a counselor at a Christian Athletic Camp each summer.
