Gary Lenhoff, CFA®

Chief Investment Officer - Fundamental Equities

Gary Lenhoff is a Chief Investment Officer for Fundamental Equities strategies at Great Lakes Advisors. He is a member of the Great Lakes Advisors Board of Directors, Investment Committee, Asset Allocation Committee, Management Committee, and is also a Portfolio Manager for Great Lakes Small Cap Equity strategy.

Gary began his industry career in 1985 and has experience managing both large and small cap portfolios. He began his career as an Analyst with Prudential Investment Company where he eventually managed a $3.3 billion portfolio of leveraged buyout and equity investments. He then served as a portfolio Manager for Anderson, Hoaglund & Company in St. Louis from 1993 to 2000, managing an $800 million portfolio. Subsequently, Gary helped build a team of seven analysts at Bricoleur Capital Management, where he assisted in growing a small cap long/short equity portfolio from $450 million to over $1.3 billion in assets. Most recently, he was Chief Investment Officer at Ironworks Capital Management, responsible for all aspects of security selection, portfolio construction and risk management.

Gary became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1993 and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago. He received a BA in Economics from the University of Rochester and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He resides in Northbrook with his wife and three children.

Huong Le, CFA®

Portfolio Manager/Research Analyst

Huong Le serves as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst for equity investments in the Financials, Real Estate, and Pharmaceuticals sectors.

Prior to joining the firm in 2002, Huong was involved in pharmaceutical research at Evanston Hospital, advertising at Foote, Cone & Belding, and retirement plans at Charles Schwab and Wayne Hummer Investments.

Huong holds a BS from Northwestern University in Biology and Psychology and an MBA with concentrations in Analytical Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago. She is a CFA charter holder and is a member of the Investment Analyst Society of Chicago.

Benjamin Kim, CFA®, CPA

Portfolio Manager

Benjamin Kim is a Portfolio Manager for the Small Cap strategy and is responsible for equity investments in the Industrial, Technology, and Telecom sectors. He also works with the Large Cap Value team as an Analyst for Technology, Industrials and Telecom sectors. He began his industry career in 1992 with experience in stock analysis and selection across a number of industries.

Prior to joining Great Lakes Advisors in 2011, Ben was an Investment Analyst at Harris Associates and a Securities Analyst for Skyline Asset Management.

Ben holds a BS in Accounting from Indiana University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago. He is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant.

Bryan L. Engler, CFA®

Senior Research Analyst

Bryan Engler is a Senior Research Analyst for the Fundamental Equity strategies and focuses on Health Care (ex. Pharmaceuticals), Consumer Discretionary, and Consumer Staples sectors. Bryan employs rigorous fundamental research in seeking attractive investment opportunities.

Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Bryan served as a Corporate Advisor at Thomson Reuters consulting a number of public executive teams on matters concerning capital structure and corporate strategy.

Bryan holds a BA in Political Science and English from Tulane University. He is also a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Chicago Society.

Scott Schneider, CFA®

Senior Research Analyst

Scott Schneider serves as a Senior Research Analyst covering All Cap Industrials, Technology and Telecom. Scott employs rigorous fundamental research in seeking attractive investment opportunities. Prior to joining the Fundamental Equity team, he was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst with GLA’s Fixed Income team, where he supported both taxable and tax-exempt fixed income investment strategies.

Scott graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 2001 with a major in Economics and is a CFA charter holder.

Henry A. Arias, MBA

Equity Analyst

Henry Arias is an Equity Analyst with Great Lakes Advisors where he performs fundamental equity research, focusing on the Financials, Real Estate and Pharmaceuticals sectors. Henry began his career in the financial industry in 2008 and has experience in securities sales and trading as well as banking and fundamental company research.

Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Henry served as Research Analyst intern at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec where he performed business valuation and stock research across multiple sectors.

Henry holds a BA in Economics and Sociology from Wesleyan University and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago. In 2016, he passed Level I of the CFA and is an active member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
